Policy paper
The policy paper, Towards Environmental Sustainability: Proposed Regulatory Framework for Managing Environmental Cumulative Effects, outlines an approach that addresses ways to deal with the cumulative effects of development that protects air, land and water.
This policy paper is intended to stimulate discussion on the proposed framework. The Alberta government will work with Alberta municipalities, industries, Aboriginal people, and non-government organizations to refine the legislative proposals and their implementation.
There are other ongoing initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Alberta that overlap in scope and subject matter. They include the Land-use Framework and renewal of the province's Water for Life strategy . This paper should be considered a proposal that can contribute to the progress of those other initiatives.
The policy paper can be found here.
