Reservoir Storage Conditions

As of April 1, 2008, water storage in the major irrigation reservoirs in the Oldman River basin is below normal, except for the Oldman Reservoir where it is normal. Water storage in the basin is mostly lower than at this time last year. St Mary Reservoir storage is approximately 80% lower than it was last year and storage in the Waterton Lakes Reservoir is about 50% lower. Chain Lakes Reservoir storage is about 35% lower than last year's storage.

Storage volume in the Milk River Ridge Reservoir is normal and similar to this time last year.

Water storage as of April 1, 2008 in the major hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs of the Bow River basin is below normal, except for Lake Newell Reservoir which is likely near normal. Generally, water storage is similar to last year except for Barrier Reservoir which about 40% lower than last year.

Water storage in the Dickson Reservoir, in the Red Deer River basin, is below normal; 30% lower than at this time last year. Crawling Valley Reservoir storage is similar to last year's storage.

In the North Saskatchewan River basin, water storage in Lake Abraham is below normal and storage is similar to this time last year. Water storage in the Brazeau Reservoir is below normal and greater than at this time last year.

Water storage in the Paddle River Reservoir in the Athabasca River basin is below normal and slightly lower than at this time last year.
