Reservoir Storage Conditions

As of August 1, 2008, water storage in the major irrigation reservoirs in the Oldman River basin is normal to above normal. Water storage in the basin is generally higher than storage at this time last year, except for Travers Reservoir which is lower.

Storage volume in the Milk River Ridge Reservoir is above normal and slightly higher than storage at this time last year.

Water storage as of August 1, 2008 in the major hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs of the Bow River basin is normal to above normal except for the Barrier Reservoir and Upper Kananaskis Lake which are below normal. Water storage compared to last year at this time is slightly lower except for Lake Minnewanka which is higher.

Water storage in the Dickson Reservoir, in the Red Deer River basin, is above normal. Water storage is similar to this time last year.

In the North Saskatchewan River basin, water storage in the Brazeau Reservoir is normal and in Lake Abraham it is above normal. Water storage in the Brazeau Reservoir is similar to last year at this time and in Lake Abraham it is lower than at this time last year.

In the Athabasca River basin, water storage in the Paddle River Reservoir as of August 1, 2008 is normal and higher than at this time last year. Water storage in the South Heart Reservoir is above normal and lower than the storage at this time last year.
