March 2006

Reservoir Storage Conditions

As of March 1, 2006, water storage in the major irrigation reservoirs in the Oldman River basin is above normal, except the Waterton which is normal. Water storage in the basin is similar to storage at this time last year.

Water storage as of March 1, 2006 in the major hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs of the Bow River basin is generally below normal, except for the Barrier reservoir which is normal. Water storage is similar to last year at this time.

Storage volumes in the major hydroelectric reservoirs in the North Saskatchewan River basin are below normal for this time of year. Water storage in Lake Abraham is approximately 10% lower than at this time last year, while the Brazeau Reservoir is nearly 20% higher than last year.
