Water Supply Outlook for Alberta

November 2005

Reservoir Storage Conditions

As of November 1, 2005, water storage in the major irrigation reservoirs in the Oldman River basin is above normal. Water storage in the basin is slightly greater than at this time last year.

Water storage as of November 1, 2005 in the major hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs of the Bow River basin is above normal with the exception of the Ghost and Spray Lakes Reservoirs which are normal. Water storage is similar to or slightly greater than at this time last year.

Water storage in the major reservoir of the Red Deer River basin is above normal. Water storage in the Dickson Reservoir is similar to last year.

Storage volumes in the major hydroelectric reservoirs in the North Saskatchewan River basin are above normal. Water storage is similar to storage last year at this time.

In the Athabasca River basin, storage volume is normal for the South Heart Reservoir, higher than last year at this time. Paddle River Reservoir storage is currently low due to routine maintenance of the dam.

November 1, 2005 reservoir data is available in Table 1. Some data is available only until October 1, as some gauges are routinely shut down for the winter at that time.
